Shoes as a First Year BB IB Analyst

Hey,

So I'm wondering if there are any unspoken rules against what shoes are acceptable to be worn and those that are unacceptable. Will wearing Gucci or Ferragamo dress shoes really be annoying to see in the office on a first year? I have no idea what to purchase with my signing bonus. Please educate me.

No one will care what you have on your feet unless they're sketchers when you start working full time bud

I have stumbled upon a "new" brand, Carmina. They are made in Spain, have calf skin and cordovan leather options with several stylish lasts. Better made than AE and much more stylish without departing from a traditional work shoe. They also have more stylish casual options. They are located on 45th btwn Vanderlit and Madison, check them out.

They have a outsourced brand purchasable through the internet called Meermin. It is the sons of the foudner of Carmina and use the same goodyear welted construction with very good leather, free returns etc..all for the price of $170. They look a little more italian in their last than english, but I think that's a good thing especially for the taller/bigger gentleman. Once does not want to look like frankenstein's monster.

SLEDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...could be seen as a little excessive.

Buy your Gamo bit loafers for your days off. If you wanna flex elsewhere go for it, but in the office as a first year its not the best move. I copped some sleds like 6 weeks in and wore them on a friday and definitely got some laughs from my VP's that definitely were half funny half "wtf is this guy doing". Not great haha

Dayman?

My first pair of shoes were a couple of Allen Edmonds (Strand and Park Avenue).

Still have them, but if I were to start again, I'd go for Meermin, Carmina, and such brands. The lasts are much, much nicer looking.

theyre not too flashy - but not a huge fan of the textured leather for work (during the week anyway)

to first reply - not sure that conforming makes you somehow more of a man...
