Shoes for MBA Associate

Fellow monkeys,

I'm starting as a new MBA Associate in M&A at a top bulge bracket this September, and I want to make sure I make the right impression from day one. More precisely, I'm trying to find the perfect pair of shoes to go with my suits.

I'm really leaning toward something a bit pointy and shiny, preferably in brown, preferably with straps.

Some of my friends have suggested I tone it down with something more traditional, but I was told that as an Associate you can (and should) be more assertive than Analysts.

Would love to hear your thoughts! What’s the general consensus on footwear in M&A? Any specific brands or styles you recommend? Appreciate the feedback!
