Starter Watch Ideas?

I am looking for a formal minimalist watch. I believe it should have a white dial cover, black leather straps. I feel that would be a good look for the office and for more formal events. I think the Longines Flagship watch looks nice. Any one have any other ideas or think I am an idiot for this watch selection?

Longines Flagship isn't a bad idea. At a slightly lower price point, Tissot has some options that you might like. At a slightly higher price point, I think you'd really really like Nomos (personally I'd go for a Nomos if I were you -- they're the best in terms of minimalist design)

Also, in general, don't buy a watch for its strap. Leather straps will wear out, and are generally interchangeable. Watches have a "lug width" e.g. 20mm or 22mm and barring cases where the lugs are weird, straps are universal. When in doubt, buy it on a bracelet (i.e. metal strap) and just buy an aftermarket leather strap
