i've made a mistake of keeping one of my ties in a knot for a long while, and now after untying it, it has wrinkles. is there a good way of getting rid of these wrinkles? thanks

Steaming works well. Drycleaning your ties every now and again also will make them look nice, and it's more hygenic as well.
A general trick is to put your ties/other articles hung neatly in the bathroom when you take a hot shower. Will help the daily smooth-out. I do it with suits and scarves on the road.
Second the steaming in the shower trick. Be careful not to dry clean your ties too often as I find it gives them a "flat" look sometimes.
