Where do you buy your dress shirts and pants, and why?

Been wearing Brooks Brothers for a decade, but I always have to get their shirts tailored/adjusted because the slim fit works well in the midsection but is too tight in the shoulders and chest, while the regular fit is just way too baggy. I am also increasingly less impressed with their pants.

Tried Mizzen+Main and Twillory across fits and sizes - same story, either too baggy or too tight in the shoulders and chest. Same story with SuitSupply shirts.

Shirts: Looking strictly for non-iron, professional look, ideally with at least some ability to stretch.

Pants: Looking for professional (not lulu) look, ideally with some stretch as long as the stretch material doesn’t hug the crotch and display the outline of your jewels and baby maker to the world.

For pants - Bonobos primarily, they have a good selection of sizes/fits/finishes that work well. At a price point I don't feel bad about replacing whenever I need to - and their weekday warriors can be washed vs. dry cleaned which is a win. Banana Republic also has some nice options as well, if you can snag them on sale I'd recommend you give them a try.

Shirts - My advice is to simply go the made to measure route. I've used Enzo Custom and had great results, I'd recommend them (and I'll be getting more shirts from them soon). Also heard great things about proper cloth as well, but not used them - I did try Indochino, and have had very hit or miss results depending on who is working at their stores accuracy wise on the measurements. Suit supply gets closest fit wise - their suits and jackets fit me very well, shirts not as much so. I don't recommend doing custom there either - it's the try on a shirt, and then they alter it accordingly - it's fine, just at the price point there's better options IMO.

This is great. I will try Enzo Custom.

Second the point on SS suits. Have 4 and really like them.

Re: Proper Cloth, my experience has been a complete miss, even though I really wanted to like them. I have had them re-make the same shirt 4 times, and the fit was still poor (even with taking photos, videos, etc.). I then sent them a tailored shirt that fits perfectly to replicate. What they sent back was so laughably off (I am talking about an inch too narrow in the shoulders, almost an inch and a half wider in the sleeves, etc.) that I just moved on.

Honestly most off the shelf shirts, even with adjustments, have been fairly disappointing imo. I like things to really fit right; dressing well is one of the easiest ways to look good. To that end I get all of my shirts custom made at a small tailors shop. I don't even think he's particularly good, but the difference is unbelievable. Last batch I did 7 shirts in one of the most basic styles, and it ran me about a thousand bucks, but they're well constructed and previous shirts I've gotten from him have really held up.

Overall highly suggest just getting custom made shirts.

Pants wise couldn't help ya, I really like the Lulu's but I'm curious what others are suggesting! Good luck!
