Work tote for girls

Ladies of WSO,

My girlfriend’s birthday is coming up and it’d be super helpful to hear about your favorite tote bags for work. She’s a management consultant so going for a classy yet functional vibe. Trying to keep this in a $200 - $400 range. Thanks!

The Kate Spade totes are cute and not flashy like some other high end bags so perfect for work. The Bleecker Large Tote is big enough for a laptop. Some variations have pockets and a laptop sleeve on the inside, such as the Zip-top one. There’s also the Suite Work Tote which has a laptop sleeve, and the Essential Large Work Tote which has a bit of a different look. They have a few other styles too. Would also suggest maybe looking at her Pinterest boards if she has any to see if she saved any work fashion related posts to get a sense of her style preferences

Depends on her style (feminine vs. classic vs. Scandinavian vs. sporty, …) / where she shops most?

Also depends on what you want to buy (fashion vs function, material, brand, etc). Might also depend how much you want to impress her / how niche/precise you wanna get.

I’d start w a simple google search, along the lines of “best Women’s work totes”, and surf the options and then research based on what you see.

If I had to give a one size fits all answer, I’d go to a department store, talk with the sales associates (that’s what they’re there for) and have them recommend a piece that’s quality leather/material, zip top, in your price range. And have them gift wrap there.

In short, I’d recommend buying from somewhere she frequents / easy to exchange (Nords, Bloomies, Saks, etc) - no offense.

Super basic, but the Le Pliage from Longchamp is a great option for any corporate job. It's been a classic for years, isn't flashy, can hold a laptop and shoes, and it's super durable.

Basic but the Longchamp. I have the City Shopper (discontinued in Europe, available in US still) the large and it fits an unbelievable amount of stuff for $250. Very classic looking. Theres also the Le Pilage, $150 I believe, but comes in more colors than the City Shopper.
