i think WSO is using a site plugin, designed to create FOMO and Social Proof, to encourage more people to buy their products (this is a "for profit" site after all).
While i agree, from a user perspective, these popups on the lower left are annoying, if they are increasing revenue, then what is Patrick to do? Maybe try moving them to the center or lower right?
