Can a 'Mark Read' button be added to the forum so users can clear out the 'x new' counts on threads without having to access every single one?

Good thought, but I wouldn't make it a priority. Maybe I don't use the "x new" as a guide as much as others do, though.

I use the 'Active' button in the forum topics window to view the site activity. I decide which threads to view going by their title, so I don't view all the updates. Having said that, if a thread has a lot of activity, I'll read it. Having a mark read button means that I can see which threads have had activity since I last went through.

Bump!

I would also use this feature. For example today I see 20 new answers in one topic. if there would be a "mark as read" button i would not have to go through those topics that i marked as read last time i visited the forum and where no new answers were posted.

Hope this is clear :-s

Top right of the page, right above the "Freshness", as this seems to me to be a best practice for forums.

Thanks!
