Move to New Server Complete

Due to our growth as a community, we have decided that a move to a new server.

We have now completed the move to our new server, and things should work the same as before, and perhaps a bit faster. would love some feedback...

Thanks,
Patrick

But when you go to check new comments by going to your account and clicking on TRACK, it used to highlight new comments on the threads you were participating in with the word "new" in red. If you clicked on the word "new", it took you right to the new comments.

The system is no longer doing that in Firefox, I don't know about other browsers. Now you have to try to remember when the last comment was made or else you have to click on all of them and scroll down.

Not a big deal at all, just thought I'd point it out in case it's a functionality that has an on/off switch that just needs to be turned on.

Otherwise, great upgrade!

yeah, this is a feature we lost when we jumped up to D6...not sure why the D6 tracker module does not have that functionality (maybe performance issue) but I will try to get it back asap. I really thought that was one of the more useful functions for tracking your discussions on the site. (not a browser issue).

^^ Was that cheaper?

i stayed with the current host that doesnt do cloud because overall they've been good. not sure how much cloud would cost and how performance would hold up with Drupal.

I've also brought Khalid onto the team and he specializes in scaling Drupal sites (http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/about-wallstreetoasiscom), some much larger than WSO... so I am confident our performance should only get better going forward.

Thanks, Patrick

Hey guys, how is the speed going now? Are the page loads hanging up at all for any of you or is the browsing fast? Clearly it is faster than before but i still wanted to check in with all of you.

Now that we have a baseline performance for a few days we will continue to clean up the site. The theme has to be rebuilt -- as of now we won't be changing much in terms of the look but we are in the process of cleaning up some of the back end. If you have suggestions for changes to the theme please let us hear it as well.

We are working hard to get the Silver bananas and monkey shit working and somehow link this into the banana points / ranking system so stay tuned.

Thanks, Patrick
