Maybe there should be a rating system for posters. Those people that post helpful material will be ranked higher, allowing the newer people to know who to trust. Posters can rank one another based on how informative their posts are. It may become a popularity contest, but I think overall it would be helpful.

“... I believe it was the single biggest reason why I ended up with an offer...”
This is a great idea. I think a system similar to Youtube's star system will benefit a lot of people on the board.
I hadn't thought of that and I really like this idea. I will definitely look into getting this done. Unfortunately, I have about 20 other things that I am working on at the moment for the site so I will not be able to get to it right away.
But rest assured I will try to implement something like this. Would a post get a ranking or an actual user?
Thanks.
on another forum i visit, users who post useful information can be awarded "rep points" by other users.
I think it would be good to give points to the user, so there's a way for for people to build a rep. To some extent the banana system helps out, but it's more quantity vs quality.
The popularity contest issue would be kinda problematic though, so maybe only so many ratings points can be given by a user per week/month?
