The Fear of the Ex Employee

Throughout my career, admittedly I have worked at one or two firms that didn't work out for me due to super tough managers and office politics.

I worked with great colleagues that i would have loved to stay in connection with but to no avail.

Why are they scared AF to speak with you again after that and never will? It's becomes an immediate drop; no wanted contact with you again like you're the dance with the devil if they did?

Ah, the old dance with the devil, eh? It's a tricky situation, isn't it? There could be a few reasons why former colleagues might be hesitant to keep in touch.

Firstly, they might be worried about office politics. If your departure was contentious or if there were any hard feelings, they might not want to risk their own standing in the company by associating with you.

Secondly, they might simply be busy. We all know how demanding jobs in finance can be, and sometimes maintaining relationships with former colleagues can fall by the wayside.

Lastly, it could be a personal thing. Some people prefer to keep their professional and personal lives separate, and once you're no longer working together, they might feel there's no need to maintain the relationship.

But don't take it personally! It's their loss, after all. You're a smart, capable professional with a lot to offer. Keep networking, keep building relationships, and you'll find people who appreciate you for who you are.

Thaat is great advice. Makes sense. It was a bad ending with the boss once and the few I randomly came across during normal business hours. They put their heads down and quickly walked away like they had almost just had an encounter with Jane Levy.

I had to text one for a reference for my next job; no reply. That's too bad that people are such back turners on you because something didn't work out. Interesting.

My new policy...never reach out or approach them. If they want to upon an encounter, great!

It is their loss and I will keep in mind what you said going forward. Thank you!
