3-hour HF Case Study - company pick rationale & note-taking
Have a 3-hour standard HF (SM with a GARP bias) case study coming.. I'm familiar already with how the test works and general technical tips around time mgmt and things to focus on. I come from another HF with a generalist coverage.
I'm just wondering: 1) will they probably pick a company they own / from their coverage or a random SMID cap so they can assure I don't know the company beforehand? It seems to be a bit unfair if they give me / my competitor a company I / he already know(s) - how to assure that, and 2) do they let you see your notes on the laptop while you speak, or are you only allowed to see notes taken within your ipad/paper?
Gotcha. Ty
Why would that be unfair
Not in this case but i'm saying unfair in the sense that they might give my competitor a company he's covered for years while they give me say a semiconductor co even though I have never looked at semis before
Not saying my situation was unfair. Just saying buy-side recruiting is unfair.
They’re more likely going to pick something they’re familiar with so that they can grill you on it
On competitive information (eg market share, revenue comparisons), are they more likely to give me it through competitors' 10Ks or through sell side reports? Or is it common to analyze the company with no competitive data at all?
