Off the top of my head Wellington, BlackRock, Baron (pretty sure), and Alger (although the culture at Alger is apparently awful). I don't know how productive this list will be though or what the purpose is. 

A lot of AM firms that run L/S strategies, the strategies tend to be very different than true HF investing and are mostly LO products with dressings to charge a higher fee. That said there are a few select firms that are great investors and may have such a strategy as well, but also a lot of these firms just have centralized research functions so its not always a separate team that runs the fund. Basically, if you want to do L/S investing, going after AM firms that have a few of these products is not a good strategy imo.
