Attaching investment pitch to networking emails -- ballsy or stupid?

Hey guys, I'm a sophomore at a nontarget and I'm interested in a career at a hedge fund. I was wondering if putting together an investment pitch, making it into a pdf and sending it with networking emails would help me stand out or would make me look like a tool. I am just a sophomore so my knowledge is pretty limited compared to real investment professionals but I'm looking for ways to stand out.

It will make you stand out in a good way, just ensure it is your best work, thoughtfully written and nicely formatted. Attaching a pitch shows initiative and is worth highlighting given the effort and self direction that goes into producing, but be open to push back / criticism and keep in mind you are still learning. The only times I've seen this backfire on a candidate is when the pitch was either 1) very poorly thought out and Reddit tier analysis or 2) the candidate was full of themselves and took feedback very poorly. For instance, I once had a candidate share a thesis with me that had numerous holes and some extreme leaps in logic, which after commenting on I suggested they give it another spin and send me a revised draft. I didn't hear back from them until a couple months later just to say that the stock had gone to their target price, although for reasons entirely unrelated to their work. Something like that would stick with someone in a bad way.
