Average age for MM PM promote
Just curious, what is the average age for newly made PM's. I know titles can vary amongst the different shops, and that there is a sub-pm/analyst-with-sleeve position in between.
Say someone joins multimanager after 2 years IB/ER (so 24-25yo). Assuming they're successful (I'm aware median outcome is fired after 4 years) by what age would they be running a pod with full discretion?
Average in Credit/FICC would be mid to late 30's I'd guess. Equities and some other asset classes probably more like early 30s. Obviously people can name other anecdotes (skewing younger) and I'd say if you haven't found a way to make PM by 40 you're going to face an uphill battle getting your first look.
30 to 40
