What do you mean by best? Highest paid? Enterprise software comes to mind, as does high value real estate.
prolli anything in B2b like mentioned before enterprise software and hardware. But a caveat is you get part of ur comp from stock comps so semi b2b it wouldn't pay as well as an EMC.
Healthcare...
Any type of surgical implants - off the top of my head either orthopedic or cardiology related. I know a guy that sells pacemakers that absolutely makes it rain. The same can be said for hip replacements, knees, pins that go in elbows, etc. The margins on these things are through the roof and you get paid a lot to sell them.
Oil field equipment/services.
I come from a family that has family members that do this for a top firm and unless you become an exec (which by then you'll be management i guess) it will be hard to reach 7 figures.
That being said, it is probably up there in terms of sweet non-finance sales jobs.
However I will take defense as probably the best. Arms dealing sounds like a bad-ass gig (legal tho, like work for Raytheon or Lockheed)
some of the big medical/surgical device companies, (depending on which product you're selling)...
ENERGY
To get to a high position in energy you'd need a petroleum engineering degree. In all honesty I'd probably go with real estate, but I don't know why you wouldn't go into finance.
I know some med device reps that do real well and work very few hours compared to wall street

How do you get into the industry of selling medical devices? Is this like a F500 gig?
EMC are the initials of the founders of EMC. Egan and Marino. The C was to complete the company name, which was named after einstein's e=mc^2
I wouldn't do RE instead of hardware/software sales. The pay is about the same and the job in the latter is much more interesting imo.
EDIT: I don't know about medical devices sales. I think it could be a good deal too.

you could start by applying to entry level sales positions at big tech firms such as EMC, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft etc
