Best source to pull historicals
Currently in banking looking to pivot and wanted the view from the vets.
When you initiate new company/build model from scratch what is your go-to source to pull or download historical financials?
Don’t run into the need as I usually get client’s LRP but was wondering what’s it like on the other side. Know CapIQ and FactSet isn’t the best if you want granularity. BamSec has the “merge tables” function but found the output to be janky.
What’s your go to and are you relying on model vendors/SS models?

Interesting, and appreciate the dp. Is Edgar efficient if you want to pull past quarterlies for i.e 5 years? Feel like paid vendors should make the inputting process less mechanical.
Curious as to what you're prompting for this. I have perplexity pro and figure that I could do the same thing?

Visible Alpha - best buy far IMO
Do it yourself.. takes like about 5 min per each period, can do 20 quarters and 10yr historicals within 2 hours.
Honestly, plugging everything yourself is only way I have found to be accurate and comfortable with the model. I have tried everything but there are ALWAYS issues pulling historicals from, say, FactSet.
Fixing and finding the right formulas from FactSet takes as much, if not more, time than just copying from filings imo
I use visible alpha and it’s a massive time saver. Have found it to be very accurate at least for large caps and they make it easy to audit numbers. Factset is unusable in comparison imo.
