I am not at a HF, but have been passionate about biotech over the past year and have done some clinical deep dives on my own as prep for interviews.

IMO, you can't really go wrong with both. As you can imagine, it is hard to compete in biotech without an MD or PhD, but it can be done with the right experience. Both industries will continue to grow, but I suspect there will be some amazing breakthroughs in Biotech as AI/ML are increasingly utilized in the drug discovery process.

Go with what you are most interested in personally and have experience in.

Go all the way

Lol this is extremely subjective, and it should be based on what you are passionate about/most interested in. Since that will be the largest determining factor related to burnout, work-ethic, and you becoming great at something in the long-term.

Biotech has one of the higest barriers to entry. So, in theory you may be able to differentiate yourself more compared to the avg. analyst if you build a deep expertise. However, with biotech there are literally former Harvard med school grads occupying HF, ER roles that REALLY know their shit. So, you are really gonna have to work for it.

I personally think TMT is much cooler, but much like internet ER it is oversaturated, so on that front you are going to have to outwork/differentiate yourself from hundreds of others to really make a name for yourself.

OP, pick what you are truly passionate about/most interested in. That will yield greatest success in the long run
