Bloomberg vs Mechanical Keyboards
Starting a new gig soon. Whole bullpen uses mechanical keyboards at my bank but noticed the shop I'm going to mostly had Bloombergs. Is there a reason to use one of those over a mechanical? I like to clicky clack.
Thanks
Bloomberg has functions built into the actual keyboard that makes life easier
I almost never see anyone actually use the function buttons
People at your bank are not using the function keys?
Also, you really don’t want to sit in an open space where all people are using mechanical keyboard.
1) Some bloomberg keyboards have authentication build in, if you have the smartphone app it should work without it.
2) Not all custom commands from these kind of keyboards can be replicated using QMK or other software. Check on reddit and the known mech keeb places if this could work.
I have taken apart a bloomberg once and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. so YMMV.
I use a das keyboard at home and it's great. I have the bloomberg keyboard at work but like it less than the mechanical keyboard, just a preference thing for me. There's no real difference other than some of the additional buttons, most of which work on a non bloomberg keyboard too e.g. f8 button on mechanical equals "equity" button on bloomberg
