I'm doing a case study, and it's asking me to build a 3 statement model from scratch without using any third-party sources like CapitalIQ or Tegus. Does that mean I can't use Bloomberg to pull historical financials? I've never built a model fully from scratch before, so I’m just looking to understand what’s allowed. Thank you!

Why don't you use BBG to pull historical financials and paste values. Then for forecasts build your own 3-statement model.
That's what I was doing but wasn't sure if that's allowed
I mean historical financials are historical financials - BBG numbers are probably going to be the same as the ones you input yourself. But you might need to do some sample checks to make sure BBG are using the numbers that you would be keying in yourself. Some key areas where there could be variances - non-GAAP financials, operating data.
Is this for a data entry position at Bloomberg Mumbai?
this is for P72 academy? I did last cycle and did this and got dinged, not sure if they have software that can track if you’ve used Bloomberg to populate historicals or if my case wasn’t good enough, but probs not worth the risk

Suspect it is for P72 academy. They are very strict on not populating historicals from any third party sources. I was an ex-academy associate, and I remember people being chewed out for doing that. They expect everyone to manually hard-code the historicals. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason you got dinged.
At P72 are you not allowed to use tools to populate historicals on the job, or is this just for the interview? Seems a bit boomer to me if that's the case.
