Chase Coleman III
Is this guy dumb? Completely disrespectful towards Julian Robertson and everything he built to invest like Coleman. Shame!

Julian blew up too
Julian blew up because he shorted the tech bubble. You can find his letter announcing the closure online, it coincided with the top of bubble (March 2000). His predecessor chase is doing exactly what Julian shorted. They're not the same
that is exactly the point, never said they were the same lol - OP said "Completely disrespectful towards Julian Robertson and everything he built to invest like Coleman" so thought it was humorous
He got paid that’s what this grift is for.
lol the guy is so dumb that he’s a billionaire
Well this teaches us many lessons. One of them about WSO. Until 3/4 months ago, it this forum was FULL of kids eating Chase’s ass and circle jerking about Tiger. Now he is laughed by all the forum. The guy is the same as 3/4 months ago, and he works in the same way. So whenever you see an opinion on here or any other places, take into account that in most cases it is based out of nothing.
Same thing happened with Melvin. A few years ago people here couldn't get enough of the guy. Now there are entire threads here with everyone laughing at him for his incompetence
"eating chase's ass" lmao
And when (if?) these funds start doing well everyone here will go back to worshiping them. Most people are just lemmings...
5 years ago everyone was shitting on Citadel/Millennium/Point72/pods and talking about how great Tiger cubs are.
Now it's completely reversed.
Life lesson: Gotta be shtting on something.
can't rlly imagine an old-school fundamental equities fund having an edge over the quanty pod shops these days lol...
I had a coworker that worked with him. Back office and middle off Staff was told "do not make eye contact with chase". He was supposedly very very "high and mighty" from a rich blue blood background who refused to interact with anyone else outside that bubble.
Basically described him like the villian guy in titanic(Zane)
Always thought the eye contact thing was funny.
Sounds like the Ted Cruz of Wall Street
And Chase's ancestor looks like this:
this can't be real
1000% real. I used to work a middle office tech role. I worked with a girl who did tech support for his firm. Said he was told by the chief of staff lady that "you are not to make eye contact with him when you pass by him or enter his office"
we thought it was ridiculous and literally had chase coleman the third running jokes about him going on several years
He's made many, many prolific, career-making investments before the 2020-2022 bubble riding. He does not need to prove anybody wrong.
He's committed a fatal mistake in his VC strategy, that's for sure. Also failed to hedge his hedge fund. Like MANY other managers and MOST of the large asset managers. He deviated from biz analysis / valuation discipline to go to a liquidity-riding strategy. That does not mean he is dumb. If he really learned the lesson he is very well capable of outperforming going fwd as he did in the past. Not sure if will be sufficient to beat HWM though.
How has he disrespected Julian? Any clips?
You dumb moron he disrespected Julian by achieving a -50% performance
LOLLLLLL
