Citadel BD reached out a few years ago so I spoke with one of the people on the team, so here were a few of my notes:

  • Global mandate with focuses on merger arbitrage and other soft catalysts
  • The PM joined in 2021 and has 5 juniors under the PM managing just under $2bn
  • Team is made up of a few people completely new to the buy side (former VP at MS IBD and a lawyer) as well as a few other analysts that have experience in merger arb, L/S, and a capital markets focused trader

My takeaway from the call was that it’s just a very odd team within Citadel that isn’t really like any other, which can be taken either way. I also spoke to a few L/S guys at Citadel I knew who all sort of told me to stay away. Information is a bit dated probably so YMMV
