“He was very responsive and prepared for the meeting. He actually read the JD, resume, and looked up linkedin which sometimes other mentors doesn't actually go over those to prepare things beforehand. I appreciate his direct comments I think it saved time and actually helped me to know exactly where to improve. I also appreciated him admitting if he doesn't know about specific HF strategy. Only thing I'd suggest for him is probably sending actionable key takeaways after the meeting because other mentors did and that was very helpful. ”

Citadel BD reached out a few years ago so I spoke with one of the people on the team, so here were a few of my notes:

Global mandate with focuses on merger arbitrage and other soft catalysts
The PM joined in 2021 and has 5 juniors under the PM managing just under $2bn
Team is made up of a few people completely new to the buy side (former VP at MS IBD and a lawyer) as well as a few other analysts that have experience in merger arb, L/S, and a capital markets focused trader

My takeaway from the call was that it’s just a very odd team within Citadel that isn’t really like any other, which can be taken either way. I also spoke to a few L/S guys at Citadel I knew who all sort of told me to stay away. Information is a bit dated probably so YMMV
