Coffee Chat Questions

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help my with a couple questions I had about coffee chats for hedge funds? 1) Is the process for going about asking them on LinkedIn or others the same or similar to IB? 2) What do you do if the person says they will do something and then just never gets back? I have had two things happened where someone said they had some phone numbers of some people they thought I should talk to and said they would email me them but never did, then another person said he would love to chat and asked to see my resume and I sent it to him but he never got back. 3) How do you go about learning the lay of the land and wrapping your head around things like best path to get to a Global Macro shop, or hearing about rivalry’s or pipelines?

Any help with any question would be much appreciated!

Ask them about their work life balance and how it affects their mental health. Only after you start off the conversation by interrogating them on the difference between deferred revenue and accounts receivable. Close the conversation by asking them how much they make. Make sure you remember to thank them for their time, even though they were rather unpleasant to talk to. Give them a couple tips on how to sound less preoccupied while on the phone.
