Corporate IR vs. PE/HF IR?

Looking at going from IB to IR and just wanted to better understand the differences between Corporate IR at a public company versus PE/HF IR with regards to type of work comp, WLB, etc.

From my (likely elementary) understanding, PE/HF IR is more concerned with fundraising and building relationships with LPs and Corporate IR is more so being a liaison between the Company's C-Suite and investors (leading earnings calls, staying up to date on markets/competitors, fielding questions, presentations at conferences, etc.)?

I've always had an itch for public markets and enjoy following public equities, rates and commodities so is either of these roles more in-line with that interest (I assume it would be Corporate IR vs. HF IR in that case).

Appreciate any guidance and happy to chat with anyone further thank you!
