Credit Analyst vs. Trader @ HF
Was recently told that analysts often make more (and have more insightful work?) than execution traders at Hedge Funds. Can anyone speak to this?

Career Resources
Obviously. Analysts are directly responsible for idea and alpha generation. Execution traders just fill the orders that the PM wants.
why is this surprising lol? Execution traders aren't coming up with the ideas that are making the firm money, they're executing the order itself in the market
Have you seen any trader seats where they are execution but can provide idea generation as well?
King Street used to have this reputation, not sure if still the same
depends very much on the fund. many brand name credit funds where the traders get much, much more than the average analysts.
Like who?
GT to name one.
Will be very fund specific. Many have started to view analyst pool as a cost base, offering the same genric output that can easily be recycled. That said, there are still plenty of funds where analysts are in charge and the execution guy is just a monkey. So would DD very carefully for this role.
