Yes, certainly possible but you may need to aim for smaller funds; ie don't get hung up if Anchorage or Silver Point don't give you a look. (And that said, funds in the $500MM-$1B space have many strategy advantages in terms of flexibility/agility to move in and out of positions, given the natural size/liquidity barriers in most distressed names.)

You're in FIG -- surely you've done your fair share of actual/potential high yield deals, recaps, M&A, spin-offs/carveouts (ie special situations), etc...it's all about spinning your story.

Although I was a little curious when you said: "for some reason I did not get that [lateral rx] position".

There's always a reason. I would be much less dismissive on that point if I were you.
