Disappointed

Been doing a lot of thinking/contemplation lately, and I guess I'm a bit disappointed with this industry. Been reading posts about how LO's are bureaucratic, antimeritocratic firms where tenure is really all that matters. Thought the environment would be more a competitive place where hard/successful work mattered more than that. I would assume the L/S no bullshit environment is opposite to this? Ppl who made the transition, how did it go for you?

Hey there, I totally get where you're coming from. It can be disheartening when the industry doesn't live up to your expectations. But remember, every firm and every team within that firm can have a different culture. Some places might be bureaucratic and tenure-focused, while others might be more meritocratic.

As for the transition to a L/S environment, it can indeed be a different ball game. It's often more fast-paced and results-oriented. But again, the culture can vary widely from one place to another.

The key is to find a place that aligns with your values and working style. Don't be disheartened if you haven't found it yet. Keep pushing, keep networking, and keep learning. You've got this!
