Do HF's verify GPA?
Do hedge funds verify GPA? If so, how do they do it? Do you just send them a copy of your official transcript yourself or do you sign over the rights to a background check for your academic records?
There are thousands of hedge funds out there. Different ones will do it differently.
Easy answer: don't lie about your GPA.
I don't have any experience applying to hedge funds, but through my interview process at various companies, they have either asked for my transcript in the beginning of the process, or after I have gotten past a phone interview.
Honestly the feel I have gotten to ask for the transcript isn't as much to verify your GPA, which they will obviously do, but to evaluate the courses you have taken. Not all schools carry the same curriculum for their major.
Did you get asked for your official transcript or unofficial?
I've only gotten offers from two funds but yes, both checked GPA. There's no point to lying about your GPA, your pitches will be a lot more important for the interview.

Not sure about equities, but with a few exceptions, most tier-1 macro funds don't really care about your GPA at all, but they do verify it.
Do HFs typically verify SAT scores?
