Economists at pods - risk taking?

Hi all. Am curious to know about the role of an economist at the likes of Citadel or P72? Is this a risk taking seat or do they just support the macro / fixed income PMs? I assume stability is higher but comp is much lower? Curious on thoughts.

Usually your job will be to support the PM by following central banks closely, creating models etc. Comp highly depends on how much the PM values your output and the performance of the team. If you're good you might get to run risk in the future.
