Hedge Fund H1B Visa
Does anybody know what the situation is for funds bringing over European analysts over to the US (starting analysts). HR encourage us to go through the process yet how many of these will actually give an offer and sponsor an international vs. people in the US?
Think about larger names so BWater, DEShaw, Citadel, Tudor, etcetc.
DE Shaw sponsors
Most don't, unfortunately...
Thanks Ambani, already spoke to their recruiter. Big pain in the dick how we have to stay in Europe for a few years first.
Sorry to bump on this thread like this, I was stalking your threads a bit (solid info, thanks):
Could you maybe shed some light on the barriers that EU candidates face if they want to start in the US? You say "we have to stay for a few years" - what changes after few years time? One can make a jump internally?
I understand that smaller shops cant sponsor the Visa, but what is the problem with bigger ones such as BB banks, megafunds, etc.? I guess that legal and administrative fees might be unattractive for sponsors, but how much is that really?
It would probably make more sense for me to start a new thread since I am a noob, but might be worth a try...
if you work for a fund which has a US office, you can apply for L1 Visa (internal transfer) after 1 year of being with the firm... there is no limit on L1 Visa (strong contrast to H1B).. google it
