Hedge Funds for Economic Development
I'm working at a international organisation right now (think IMF, World Bank, UN, etc) and am looking to transition. I'm quite interested in hedge funds that dabble within economic development measures and was wondering how viable my plan is.
I graduated from HKS/HBS in 2009 and have been working at my present job ever since.
Does anyone know of hedge funds that engage in this work? I'm trying to work out the feasibility of my plan at this stage.
Thanks!
why waste your time here when your network (assuming your credentials are true) can provide more/better assistance and advice?
Actually a friend told me about this site and how there is a diverse base of people here so was thinking perhaps there may be someone who could help.
A bit naive to think I am not using my alumni connections. I like to exhaust all options.
My question to you is: why leave something like the UN? You guys pay ZERO income tax !!
I'd like to develop my career and move forward with the plans I had when I graduated from college. My job is great and I love it but I went into it with this goal in mind, and having worked there for 2 years now, its seems the right time.
My guess is the OP would be a good fit at macro hedge funds given his background in international development and macroeconomics. Bridgewater, Soros, Moore, Clarium, are ones that come to mind, but i'm not sure to what extent they dabble in economic development measures.
Thank you for the help. I will look into these. I believe Soros engages within development according to a professor of mine so definitely on the right track, thanks.
something about this doesn't make sense...I can't quite put my finger on it.
I'm not sure I follow. I was asking for advice on this thread as so many have done previously. Was this not the point of the site?
