HF recruiters?

Who are the main HF recruiters for laterals - already on buyside at HF, looking to move to another HF?

I have the list of usual suspects from banking days, but don’t remember which ones were good in HFs. Seems like every recruiter and their brother has access to the MM platforms, so any additional insight on SM stuff would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Why not just apply directly at the MMs or contact their in House recruiting teams? I always found recruiters incredibly useless and prefer to be in control of the communication with the firm and also the negotiations instead of leaving this to one of those guys. They pretend to have all those great connections with the funds and that they are in charge of "exclusive mandates" but this usually turns out to be BS

I agree with this. After a certain point there are very few recruiters who have connections you don’t (or can’t easily find) and they try to sell you on these great names but don’t really have an “in”. I’ve only met 1 recruiter who legitimately had solid connections with some top places, but he ended up going to work for a top HF. Others tend to be fishing for info, no good experiences to speak of.
