HF vs PE without experience, which is easier to break in to?
Apologies if this has been answered in previous threads, I did look but was unable to find anything directly comparing the 2. My question is, for someone who is not currently in finance, which of PE/HF would be the easier to break into?
I understand fully that both will be extremely difficult, and I've read all the tips that people have given to maximise your opportunities, which I plan to follow (e.g. going to a target MBA program, showing a passion for investing by doing things on the side, trying to get an internship between now and MBA, etc, etc). Both career paths are of interest to me, but I want to have all the facts to be able to compare the 2, and this is one of them. The other factors (e.g. compensation comparisons, the actual work being performed, the skills required etc.), I'm a lot clearer on.
Edit: for those interested, my background is Physics undergrad and then Masters at target Uni in UK (i.e. Oxbridge), big tech consulting firm for 2 years as a consultant, big UK engineering firm as a project manager in software for 2 years.
Thanks!
