I want to be in a hedge fund
I want to be in a hedge fund. The public markets have always been what excites me and drew me to finance initially. I’d much rather service clients through securities than 8 month long BS processes. Problem is, I don’t feel like I’m getting a good learning experience that can be applicable to a HF. (I’m in MM M&A and don’t want to do solely event driven investments)
To be fair. I don’t even know what roles and how hedge fund teams are structured. Is it better to be the trader or the investment analyst? Do traders ever become PMs? Or are they just execution?
My plan is: lateral to BB, MF/large PE fund, and then escape the private markets by the time I’m 30. Let me know if there is a better fool proof alternative
