I was wondering about a potential networking opportunity..?
This may come off as kind of naive, as I'm just a college student and I don't know a lot about the industry.
Anyways, I have a cousin who started a successful hedge fund after trading for years. I know that he's retired now and has been for about five years; he isn't involved in finance anymore. So do you think networking with him be kind of futile, since he no longer works in finance? I figured he could potentially help me get an interview if he knows someone else I could speak to.
Any advice?
Dude this is YOUR cousin. Not sure what exactly you're looking for. To hear its a good idea? What do you have to lose? Maybe I just don't understand the question.
Don't go to him asking about a job. Just call/email and say that you'd like to talk to him about how he got into finance and express that you'd like to do the same.
he's family, so there's no real downside to trying. just go about it tactfully.
