IR/Cap Raising

I have done some research on business development, IR, and Capital Raising on WSO and most of the information that I came across is for small to medium size funds. What do these roles look like for a top 20-25 fund? I am talking about a specific role where IR and BD are a combined function. Also, I want to point out that I understand moving to the investment side especially at a large fund is extremely rare and that is not what this post is hinting at. Does anyone have any direct experience working in one of these roles? Any idea what the interview process would be like? Work-life balance? Comp? etc. Would love to find out more information either here or through PM.
