Is it too late for HF MM?
I was a junior VP in IB (top performer) and then built a start-up from the ground up (high growth, strong funding, £xxm revenues). Have been seriously considering making the move to a hedge fund. I know the typical path is ~2 years in IB before moving, but I have a few extra years under my belt and that strong operator experience.
Just wondering—how typical is it to move at this stage? Have you seen VPs / people like me make the transition successfully, or is the ship mostly sailed by then?
Would appreciate any insights, especially from people who've seen laterals happen. Thanks!
I’ve seen VP laterals but not start up founders. Honestly not sure how bizdev will react to someone who’s left IB
I’ve seen ER MDs transfer with multi million pay packages
Why would ER MDs get such a package? What's the angle?
They know their coverage universe very well
This type of move will be 100x easier for someone in ER vs IB
