Low GPA but decent experience?

I am a junior, double major at a semi-target ideally trying to go into L/S investing. I interned at a tiger cub (one of the much lesser talked about ones, not Cotaue/Viking/the like. However I fucked up this semester and my GPA is at a 3.4. I was wondering how much my GPA is going to factor into recruiting, I had a networking call with a guy from a big pod shop and he told me that they don't really look at people who have below a 3.8. I'm trying to figure out if I should be focusing on trying to raise my GPA or get better at stock pitching. I only have 3 semesters left in undergrad so not a ton of room to raise it a lot but was wondering what you guys think

I mean...why not do both?

You kinda answered your own question. If the big pod shops don't even look at guys with a GPA below 3.8, then you should focus on getting it back above 3.8. If you cannot then it will be an uphill battle getting in out of undergrad (not that it isn't already difficult).

That being said, having an internship at a L/S will be helpful for recruiting. Your life isn't over because you don't get into a top pod right out of school.

You talking about out of going to somewhere like that out of undergrad or after doing banking?

out of IB mainly, but you can try for sure if you have differentiated extracurricular experience. ofc they care abt GPA because it is the automatic way, but if you show something extra they of course would consider
