Luxor / Lugard Road

Lugard Road appears to be a crossover investor within Luxor. Does anyone have any information on these guys? It's hard to sus out their 13-F given they are a captured entity so do not trust what I am reading online. I would even appreciate verification of which online sources to trust. Crunchbase is good for the private stuff. Thx.

Luxor is not a very transparent fund - I haven't spoken to them in a long time. Organically my understanding is that Lugard is a sub-fund run by Jon Green. They (Luxor) are pretty quiet and always tend to pop up in weird distressed equities or reorg situations. At one point they were extremely popular and had products listed with private banks (e.g. UBS HNW clients could buy into Luxor), but they had a bad string of results starting in 2015 and were quieter after this. They had a publicized bet in Atlantic City and they were also in a weird coal situation.

Jon is from HK, which explains the fund name - Lugard Road is one of the main paths winding up Victoria Peak and offers some of the best views of the city. It looks like Lugard is holding their VC investments; which is one of the strategies that annoyed investors in 2016 - they had a sidecar for some of their venture shares which were good trades, but didn't allow investors to redeem their capital in full.
