Macro Platform Analyst

Currently a sales and trading analyst that was reached out to about an opportunity at a macro platform that is a client. What is a normal range of compensation to expect after making the jump from a sell side rates desk (strong European BB) to a macro platform (run like a multi manager but not one of the pod funds) in a junior role where I would be supporting a PM but would not have my own book yet? The goal would be to eventually grow into having my own book if I do well, but I am curious what I should fairly expect in base/bonus until then? Also, for people more experienced on the buyside, is this a smart career move, switching to the buyside early as an analyst, instead of staying on the sellside longer and trying to move as a PM?
