Market down, pay down. Market up...you guessed it, pay still down
My pay fell 30% in 2022 and is still down from 2021. I'm on the sell side, so I can tolerate lower markets = lower research budgets, but this recovery means nothing for me or my firm.
Are analysts on the buyside experiencing the same?
If my pay isn't going to go up idk why I'm in this business. Not like we're doing God's work.
Of course, what you new here?
But on the other hand, more $$$ for my third yacht and more Gucci bag for my side chick, says every hedge fund partner.
I've been in this industry since 2012. My income always went up or at least flatlined for a decade.
I guess I've been wrong to envy my clients and their fancy Central Park view offices if it means working alongside people dedicated to stealing from them everyday.
How do you say your pay is still down? Did you already get your bonus?
At my bank most divisions, apart from IB analysts, get their bonus in Jan. Are you an IB analyst?
