MM career timing advice
Currently deep into an part time MSc in Data Science, but just got re'orgd out of a risk taking seat at an AM - some of it was organizational, some probably personal performance related as my MSc. took up some bandwidth, though PnL was still good as a team - previous years I've been one of the strongest performers. New role is research oriented in the same space - would give me time to build my ideas/models and finish my MSc. but it comes with some additional non-interesting managerial responsibilities. My feeling is the longer I am out of a risk taking seat the harder it might be to get back into one, the trade off is the stuff I am learning is highly applicable to my trade, I have great data access, and I can just sit here and test out my ideas while collecting a paycheck and have a more differentiated skills pertaining to the strat in a year.
I think if I got a bid from a research org, or a large SM looking to build out this strat under an experienced PM I might take it as I think I could add value. A little more hesitant to go the pod route just yet until I test out some more of my own ideas. If you got a bid from a decent MM pod - wwyd in this situation? Find out if you sink or swim?

Ultimately, the decision depends on your confidence in your current strategies and your long-term career goals. If you believe the skills you are acquiring now will significantly enhance your future prospects, it might be worth staying in your current role a bit longer. However, if you feel ready to take on a more dynamic role, a bid from a decent MM pod could be a great opportunity to test your abilities.
