Moving from a LO to a MM HF

I’m currently working as a senior analyst at a mutual fund. This is my first job and I’ve spent almost 7 years at the firm. I’m due to be given PM responsibilities in a couple of years, if I stick around. I’m evaluating a move to a MM HF (as an analyst). What are things I should consider? How big is the ‘re-learning curve’? I understand that the job security at a HF, especially at a MM, is much lower as compared to a mutual fund. Still, can it be a rewarding switch? What are the potential exit options for me if I do end up making the move?
