Just love picking stocks, being right, markets in general. Market is just a giant psychology experiment on how global economies, markets, and micro/macro factors match up. Pretty cool to watch, challenging to predict, and lucrative if you can create a process that works
Also quite the rush putting risk on and forcing yourself to do the homework to make sure you've done it right. You're making educated bets on the entire world and everything is inter-connected. It forces you to learn quickly and adapt or die

Initially? I was offered a bunch of money to solve interesting problems and work with interesting people. Hard to not be interested by that type of offer. Why you decide to stick it out is way more complicated.

Probably the only industry where you can become very wealthy without being a "people person". Outcomes are mostly a result of skill, and the product is so liquid & measurable that with time track record always trumps sales ability (of course after some reasonable lower bound is met).
