Non-Target to HF with coding background

Hey y’all, I’m a current UG at a non-target. I have a pretty extensive math and coding & data analytics background (python, C, SQL, R, Java, and a ton of ML stuff) and wanted to know what y’all would recommend as the best way to network with HF people (Citadel, SIG, etc)

They only hire PhDs and no undergrads, masters guys with rare exceptions and undergrad with even rare black swan expections, unless an extremely rare black swan case. Published great research, won a couple olympiads etc.

Just past the quant assessments/interviews. Forget about networking if your background is that “extensive.” They really only care about raw math/CS ability for junior roles out of UG.

Source: I got offers for quant funds you mentioned out of non-target UG without networking.

However, if you can’t even get interviews I doubt your background is that “extensive.”

Or just win Citadel’s data competition. If you’re that good this should be a freebie.

Or you might just get a reality check that your “extensive” background isn’t really all that compared to the candidate pool.

This isn’t IB you actually need to be smart.
