I'm trying to come up with stock ideas for a special situations hedge fund interview. I've come across a couple of stocks but they already have disclosed activist investor positions. Is it acceptable to prepare a pitch on these?
What are some ways to generate ideas here?
These r good, but is only on mandate of Special sits, whats the fund broken down to, if they specialize in pre bid speculation, try and focus on that etc. only focus on activism if this is there bread and butter, otherwise id take the best one and come up with other plays. Strategic reviews, speculative buys, distressed turnarounds, special themes etc
The fund is a bit under the radar tbh but from what I gather, it's event driven. They do m&a arbitrage and "cooperative" activism. If you're okay, I can pm you the ideas I have
