Point72 - is it as good as it seems?

As someone who is pursuing IB but was always interested in the possibility founds on the buy-side, mainly PE and HF, was curious if the monkeys in the HF could give me some insight into Point72 from an insider's POV. I really like the idea of the academy and then working in small pods in the firm but is there something that I might be missing in terms of the company itself or longer term prospects for employees?

point72 offers 3 year contracts to their academy graduates now. 65% of academy graduates since 2014 are still with the firm.

Is that high retention rate due to genuine happiness with the work and company or is it due to how strong the contacts are and how difficult it would be to go somewhere else?

Have an internship offer with them for next summer. Can say the application process was much more enjoyable and actually engaging compared to my IB recruiting experiences.

i have never been asked to do any modelling in an interview lol.

P72 was more academic, run me through your thought process on this company etc and ibanking was more tell me about a time you worked in a team etc

intelligent/curious people. A lot of non-standard/non-finance backgrounds
