Received offer from 4-8bn L/S SM with 1 YOE. Is my comp fair?

I was offered 200k base and 500k target first year comp including bonus. I am wondering if this is fair for someone of my level. I would be joining as an IBD analyst with 14-15 months experience.

From the research I have done on this site, the offer is more than fair but I am trying to double check.

Yeah what’s your background? Non target, MM IB, bottom bucket? If not, you’re certainly getting compensated like one. I’d feel like absolute trash if I were you. It’s almost insulting how little they value you. Most the target, top BB, top bucket analysts are getting 2-3 bucks guaranteed. Would recommend turning it down and waiting for a place that is willing to place an appropriate number on what you bring to the table. Just my 2 cents fwiw, as someone who got the opposite package as you (read: way way higher)

I am in a top banking group and the other people who have left for hedge funds have gotten similar offers. This is not as crazy as you make it out to be.

When MF PE is paying 375-400k for talent these funds have to go higher to make the risk-reward at least palatable, even if they never fully make up for it.
