Sculptor / OZ Credit
Anyone have any intel on the rep / culture / comp / etc of the corporate & structured credit team there? Know they did quite well in the years following the crisis, but not sure how they've done recently. Anyone have any updated info on them? Thx
Heard bad things about culture. Returns for distressed/credit opps are decent relative to other distressed funds for the past 4 years or so (believe ~6% annualized)
My understanding is the credit team is mostly performing/CLO credit, much less emphasis on distressed
It’s a mix, they have a large stressed/distressed pocket.
Agreed they have the split between the CLO arm (think its called ICS) and then the credit opps master fund which does more stressed and distressed credit. Any chance you hear anything about culture? Mentioned above that I heard it was bad but that was through friend of a friend so would be nice to have more details.
Define bad. They’ve shaken things up a bit after all the scandals over the years. I’m fond of Jimmy Levin and it trickles down from the top, so I’m inclined to say it’s okay. Have a handful of contacts there who say much the same but people have different interpretations of what culture really means – I haven’t heard of anything shocking or out of the norm.
Unfortunately got vague info and just heard that things were very tense there and senior people were tough to work with/more abrasive than at comparable funds but to be honest that could've just been a product of scandal and succession issue (info came from someone who left a few years ago)
