Slow even with practice
Took the Point72 and Citadel 45min modeling tests recently and could not finish either within the time allotted. Work on the sell side and regularly model; I also have been making 3-statement models since college in clubs. I’m starting to wonder if I am undiagnosed or something. When I reflect I realize I generally take longer to complete exams/assignments in HS, college, work etc. While I’m confident in my abilities to come up with investment ideas, articulating them and modeling them out, if I struggle to pass these intro exams how will I ever progress through to the next rounds. Just looking for advice on how to move forward given the circumstances. Could anyone relate and how did you manage?
I'm not a fan of these timed simple model tests, as they're nothing but a test of who has the fastest fingers. The only suggestion I have is regular practice under test like conditions. But first, identify the problem - is it just simply a typing speed issue or an ability to process information and attempt to model within 45 minutes?
Probably a bit of both. I type at ~45wpm and definitely find myself questioning if things make sense too often when going through.
Bro WHAT how in the world do you only type 45 WPM are you serious?
I used to be slower but have gotten faster since entering the workforce—basically typed with two fingers up until that point and mostly pen and paper assignments when you study a quantitive subject.
Yeah this isn’t that crazy — I work in MF PE and only type 45 wpm 🤷🏼♂️
I feel like someone could make a thread here saying they don't understand the three statements and somebody would inevitably comment "I'm in MF PE and I don't either"
I'm not going to lie I wouldn't hire someone who typed at 45 WPM LMAO
What is everyone's typing speed on monkeytype? I used to be 2 fingers and about 50, but after working an internship I lowkey realized how being an efficient typer and not needing to look at the keyboard is actually super useful just for taking notes and stuff like that. Now I am at 103wpm with 93% accuracy on a 2min long typing test after about a year of consistent practice (study breaks take a couple tests here and there, etc)
Just did 116 / 98%
Beast
Honestly i just played games growing up (flaming teamates comes in clutch here) and can type 140wpm consistently lol
same, communicating while playing RTS forces you to learn.
stunned that someone can get through college, intending to work for at a competitive job that requires using a computer, without learning how to type properly/quickly.
play some pc games it will help
Honest question. How are you a Gen z and type so slow? What were you doing growing up?
Playing outside and console games rather than PC games
